Dick McGuire Memorial Fund
You may contribute to the Dick McGuire Memorial Fund. This fund was established in cooperation with Craig and Jackie Mathews of Blue Ribbon Flies
in West Yellowstone, MT to the memory of Dick McGuire, a longtime fishing guide and advocate for the Madison. In the 1970s and 80s Dick led the
fight to stop fish stocking on the Madison and other Montana rivers and manage them instead as self-sustaining wild trout fisheries. The prestige
of the Madison as Montana's premier wild trout fishery is due in large part to Dick's tireless efforts. Dick passed away in 2007 while fishing in
Lake Ennis. The fund in his memory will fund worthy conservation projects on the Madison watershed.
Stocks & Bonds
Donors and Foundation members may choose to give appreciated assets such as stocks, bonds or other securities. This may be the most effective way for
you to support the Madison River Foundation while preserving your financial position. The Foundation maintains an account with the brokerage firm of
Smith Barney to receive such donations, please email our director, Richard Lessner at
for how you can help.
Volunteer Opportunities
You may want to volunteer to help with the Foundation's projects and programs from helping to keep the Varney Road and fishing access sites free of litter,
to helping restore important tributary streams through our boots in the water volunteer corps. The annual Fly Fishing Festival also offers many volunteer
opportunities. Check to see if there is an event, or other opportunity that you would like to be involved with, watch Madison River Currents and the calendar
of events for dates and locations, then contact us at 406-682-3148 or
